How to Convert PDF to PowerPoint

1

Select a PDF

Click the upload area or drop the PDF you want as a presentation.

2

Pages become slides

Each page is rendered at high resolution and placed on its own PowerPoint slide, aspect ratio preserved.

3

Download the .pptx

Open the presentation in PowerPoint, Keynote or Google Slides.

What can and cannot be recovered

A PDF made from a presentation has lost the presentation's structure. There are no slide objects, no text boxes, no placeholders โ€” only marks positioned on pages. Converting back means rebuilding a deck from what is visible, not recovering what was there.

The practical result is a presentation where each page becomes a slide, with content placed to match the original appearance. It looks right and it does not behave like a natively authored deck.

Editing the result

Because the structure was inferred, editing is more awkward than editing an original. Text may sit in boxes that do not correspond to logical blocks, and changing a line does not reflow the slide the way it would in a deck built properly.

For small corrections โ€” a date, a name, a number โ€” that is entirely workable. For restructuring a deck, rebuilding from the source material is usually faster than fighting a converted one.

Scanned PDFs produce pictures

If the PDF's pages are images, there is no text to place and each slide becomes a picture of a page. The deck opens, looks approximately right, and cannot be edited in any meaningful way.

The test is the same as always: try to select text in the PDF. If it highlights, the conversion has something to work with; if it draws a box over an image, it does not.

Fonts and layout drift

Text is placed using whichever fonts are available on the machine opening the deck. Where the original font is missing, a substitute changes text widths, and a line that fitted a box in the PDF overflows it in the presentation.

This is most visible in tightly designed slides where text was sized to fit exactly. Expect to nudge things, and expect a deck with a distinctive brand typeface to need more attention than a plain one.

When to convert

The good reasons are practical: you received a PDF and need to present from it, you need to reuse a few slides in a new deck, or you must update a document whose original was lost.

The better path, when it exists, is to find the original. A converted deck is always a reconstruction, and reconstructions carry small errors that the original does not.

How it runs

Pages are read and the presentation is built in your browser, so client decks and internal documents are not uploaded. Long documents are processed page by page and take proportionally longer.

Check the result page by page before presenting from it. The failures here are visual rather than fatal, which means they are easy to miss until they are on a screen in front of an audience.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the conversion work?+
Each PDF page is rendered as a high-resolution image and placed on a slide. The result looks exactly like the PDF โ€” ideal for presenting existing documents.
Can I edit the text on the slides?+
The slides contain page images, so text isn't directly editable. You can add new text boxes, annotations and slides around them in PowerPoint.
What slide format is used?+
Slides use a standard layout with each page fitted proportionally โ€” portrait pages get side margins, landscape pages fill the slide.
Why present a PDF as PPT?+
Meeting rooms and lecture halls run on PowerPoint. Converting lets you present reports, designs and documents with regular slide navigation, without switching apps.
